I'm Building Websites for Other People Again

Why now

Rebuilding this site reminded me how much I like this kind of work. Figuring out what a site actually needs to do, getting the small details right, and then watching it come together is the fun part of the job for me. So I set things up properly this time around: a real inquiry form, a way to book a call, and an onboarding process so nothing falls through the cracks.

A few sites I’ve built

Before this, most of my web work went to open source projects. Here are some that are still live, as they look today.

Every one of those projects had a different audience and a different job for its site, and none of them look alike. That’s on purpose. I don’t have one template that I stamp out for everybody.

And then there’s this site. It’s the best example of how I work when nobody is telling me no: it feels like an app, it’s fast, it works well on a phone, and it respects things like dark mode and accessibility settings. I wrote up how it came together if you want the details.

How it works

1. Tell me about your project. The form on the contact page takes a couple of minutes. I reply within one business day.
2. We talk. You can book a free 20 minute discovery call right after you send the form. We go over what you need and whether I’m the right fit.
3. Onboarding. If we decide to work together, I send over a questionnaire that covers your business, the pages you need, your brand and your domain, so I have everything before we start.
4. Kickoff, then build. We have a kickoff call, and then I get to work and keep you in the loop along the way.
